چکیده
In the title compound, C(10)H(9)NO, the amino and the hydr-oxy groups act both as a single donor and a single acceptor in hydrogen bonding. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected via chains of inter-molecular ⋯N-H⋯O-H⋯ inter-actions, forming a two-dimensional polymeric structure resembling the hydrogen-bonded mol-ecular assembly found in the crystal structure of naphthalene-1,5-diol. Within this layer, mol-ecules related by a translation along the a axis are arranged into slipped stacks via π-π stacking inter-actions [inter-planar distance = 3.450 (4) Å]. The amino N atom shows sp(3) hybridization and the two attached H atoms are located on the same side of the aromatic ring.

Microbial desulfonation of substituted naphthalenesulfonic acids and benzenesulfonic acids.
Sulfur-limited batch enrichment cultures containing one of nine multisubstituted naphthalenesulfonates and an inoculum from sewage yielded several taxa of bacteria which could quantitatively utilize 19 sulfonated aromatic compounds as the sole sulfur source for growth. Growth yields were about 4 kg of protein per mol of sulfur. Specific degradation rates were about 4 to 14 mu kat/kg of protein....

Fluorescence probes based on excited state proton transfer (ESPT) have been recently developed for microheterogeneous media. The ESPT behaviour of a series of substituted naphthols (4-chl oro-1-naphthol, 5-amino-1-naphthol , 4-methoxy1-naphthol, 7-methoxy-2-naphthol , 3-amino-2-naphthol, 6-bromo-2naphthol and 1-bromo-2-naphthol) is investigated in liposomes, using steady state and time resolved...

The preparation of 5-bromo-2-naphthol (4) in three steps from 5-amino-2-naphthol (1) is described. A sulfonic acid group is introduced at the 1-position as an activating and protecting group for the Sandmeyer reaction. The sulfonate group allows for the use of only water and sulfuric acid as solvents. The sulfonic acid is introduced with three equivalents of sulfuric acid, and it is removed in ...
متن کاملPurification and characterization of 1-naphthol-2-hydroxylase from carbaryl-degrading Pseudomonas strain c4.
Pseudomonas sp. strain C4 metabolizes carbaryl (1-naphthyl-N-methylcarbamate) as the sole source of carbon and energy via 1-naphthol, 1,2-dihydroxynaphthalene, and gentisate. 1-Naphthol-2-hydroxylase (1-NH) was purified 9.1-fold to homogeneity from Pseudomonas sp. strain C4. Gel filtration and sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis showed that the enzyme is a homodimer with a...
متن کاملEffect of aromatic amines on isolated rat-liver mitochondria.
The effect of some unsubstituted aromatic amines and their oand p-hydroxylated derivatives on isolated rat-liver mito chondria has been studied. The o-hydroxylated amines inhibited oxygen uptake in the presence of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-dependent respiratory substrates. Of the other compounds only l-amino-4-naphthol inhibited oxygen uptake. The Buccinate oxidase system was inhibited ...

peptide synthesis. Enzymatic peptide synthesis is more advantageous than chemical synthesis since the enzymatic method is stereoselective and is secure from racemization. There are, however, several problems to be solved with this method. Secondary hydrolysis of the resulting peptide may arise from the inherent nature of the protease. Moreover, the method is limited to the use of amino acid der...
